Elegy

A burden shared between us
as we have been bound together
amid seasons.
Sun spots fade and sift through
the simmer of summer.
The truth is,
the fire between us had scared me.
Our skin glowing with heat,
soft and burning.
Now, without you
the flames have died
their last gold.
I embrace the chill of winter,
all the while, shivering
longing for the sun.
