Poetry by C. Eve

I am the First Eve.

July 15, 2020July 15, 2020

Confined

Countless times
I had closed the window,
spending nights
before daylight
setting expensive alarm clocks.
They coo and chirp like birds.
Looking out of the cage
I had made for myself,
I wonder why
I never heard
the birds outside.
